Statement

NYC was an ideal place to teach myself and to absorb everything in museums and gallery exhibitions growing up. As well as a love of newspapers and journalism informs the work,using newspaper clips in collages and paintings. Art is redemption. People need pictures.The work should entertain, educate, inform, and be a pleasure to look at, speak for itself, and to the viewer.

George M. Gutierrez is an artist + Pulitzer Prize Winning Photographer. Mr. Gutierrez is a former New York Times photographer, editor, art director and illustrator. His work in other media includes drawing, collage, painting, and assemblage.His work has been published in The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, New York Magazine, Vanity Fair, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Daily News, The New York Post, The Village Voice, and other periodicals and publications.

Born and raised in NYC, studio in Yonkers, New York.
