Jimena Lopez Miquelarena

Statement

My work is an extension of my interior world. It is a reflection of my emotions; those that I experience during the creative process.

Searching for my essence, I will find my own style. Every work of art is a step forward in that process, a path that produces more questions than answers.

My preferred support is canvas or wood panels. My primary medium is acrylic and oil pastels. In my studio, I generally work on several series simultaneously which I never plan ahead. I rely on intuition and let it develop on its own, pulse at its own rhythm.

My ultimate goal, through my abstract images, is to be able to prod the viewer to halt and experience. Awake, in the observer, a desire to immerse themselves into my paintings, see and feel beyond the two dimensional surface on which it rests.
